Only residents living in approved areas can obtain a permit. Permits are conditional and may be revoked at any time. Property managers, Caretakers, and contractors can obtain permits with the property owner's consent.

The State of Vermont allows the burning of leaves, brush, dead wood, tree cuttings, and weeds. In addition, it is illegal to burn any treated, painted, pressed, or finished/processed wood, plywood, paper, cardboard, plastics, tires, garbage, tar paper, household trash, or asphalt shingles.
If you want to have an open-air fire (bonfire, fire pit, etc.) then yes, you need an approved permit. If you are having a barbecue, a permit is not required.
